Fresh Meat for 2K Meals Provided in Nigeria

KANO, NIGERIA June 20, 2025 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed fresh meat providing 2,000 meals to families across Nigeria during the Islamic season of Udhiyah.

Approximately 400 families living in Kano and Potiskum received fresh meat from locally-sourced, humanely-slaughtered cows. According to Ahmed Sherif, senior manager of international programs at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries included widows, orphans, the elderly, and displaced people.

“I’ll never forget the look in the eyes of our sisters and brothers, the gratitude, the relief,” Sherif said. “Just knowing they had something to share at their table on Eid made every effort worth it”.

According to the World Food Programme, more than 26 million people in Nigeria are projected to face food insecurity in 2025 due to conflict, inflation, and climate-related shocks, making seasonal support like Udhiyah distributions critical for vulnerable families.
