KARACHI, PAKISTAN April 22, 2022 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently delivered 600 food packages that provided approximately 241,200 meals to impoverished families in Pakistan during Ramadan.

More than 4,800 villagers living in the Sujawal, Mansehra and Noushero Feroze districts received the food packages in time for Ramadan. Food packages included rice, flour, sugar, lentils and canned goods. According to Baitulmaal program director Elizabeth Sohail, many of the families live in remote areas and find it increasingly difficult to procure basic necessities.

“Food availability is decreasing and prices are soaring everywhere, and this affects the poorest families the most,” Sohail said. “Our donors’ generosity enabled us to give these families food packages that last them through Ramadan.”

Baitulmaal delivered approximately 4 million meals to those in need around the world this past Ramadan. The charity also provides food, water, healthcare and other humanitarian aid to people in Palestine. COX’S BAZAR, BANGLADESH April 19, 2022 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed 625 Ramadan food packages that provided 162,000 meals for Rohingya refugees living in camp settlements in Bangladesh.

Families in Cox’s Bazar received a month’s worth of items such as flour, sugar, lentils and oil, basic necessities that are out of reach for many living in refugee camps. Lack of employment and education opportunities keep families struggling to escape poverty after they risked their lives to escape violence, according to Elizabeth Sohail, program director at Baitulmaal.

“Many of these families are still reeling from fires that displaced them from their homes prior to Ramadan last year,” Sohail said. “Having these food packages in time for this year’s Ramadan gives them one less thing to worry about during a month meant for gratitude and reflection.”

249,240 Ramadan Meals For Displaced Families in Syria

???? More photos below… ????

IDLIB, SYRIA April 11, 2022 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently completed the distribution of food packages that provide 249,240 meals to internally displaced families in Northern Syria in time for the Ramadan season.

Approximately 670 families living in Idlib, Ma’arat Masrin and other areas in Northern Syria received the food packages. Contents included rice, flour, lentils, pasta, canned vegetables, dates and cooking oil. According to Baitulmaal program manager Elizabeth Sohail, the majority of food package recipients were women and children who recently settled in refugee camps in Northern Syria.

“It is increasingly difficult for these families to secure basic necessities now that food prices are soaring,” Sohail said. “They were incredibly grateful to receive items like cooking oil and rice which they might not have been able to purchase otherwise.”

The Syrian crisis has left more than 6.9 million Syrians internally displaced and another 5.1 million as refugees. An estimated 13.4 million people living within Syria – including those who are internally displaced – are in need of humanitarian assistance. The UN refugee agency calls it “the biggest humanitarian and refugee crisis of our time and a continuing cause for suffering.”

Baitulmaal delivered approximately 4 million meals to those in need around the world this past Ramadan. The charity has also been on the ground in Syria mobilizing aid after destructive storms, delivering food, digging wells, supporting orphans, helping students and distributing seasonal aid. 1,000 Families in Lebanon Receive Emergency Food Aid

???? More photos below… ????

BEIRUT, LEBANON, January 27, 2022 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed food packages to 1,000 impoverished Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian families in Lebanon.

Families living in Beirut, Beqaa, Saida in south Lebanon and Akkar in the north received food packages that contained staples such as rice, flour, oil, beans, lentils, pasta and sugar. According to Elizabeth Sohail, program manager at Baitulmaal, recipients included widows, disabled persons or refugee families.

“Many people in Lebanon have been impacted by the economic collapse,” Sohail said. “The most vulnerable among them – the sick, old, and unemployed – simply won’t survive without humanitarian intervention, which highlights why our donors are so important to families struggling in Lebanon.”

Approximately 78 percent of the Lebanese population has fallen into poverty, according to the World Bank. A catastrophic port explosion combined with a global pandemic and political turmoil has made food and services unaffordable for a majority of Lebanon’s 6.8 million residents, including nearly half a million Palestinian refugees and 1.5 million Syrian refugees living in refugee camps in Lebanon.

Baitulmaal responded to the devastating port blast in 2020, sent $1.2 million in hard-to-find medications and another $1.1 million in medical equipment to Beirut hospitals, reconstructed homes and buildings, installed generators and wells, and provided food packages to alleviate hunger.
